I went to the bethel meeting a DC once. I had a similar experience was feeking all fired up about how great bethel was. I thought I could be an artist for them. It was mothers dream to see my art in a publication.(pathetic place to see your art)
Anyway, they told me were not accepting applications from women. They were looking for brothers and married couples only. They told me to re-apply after I was married. I was totally crushed.

If you follow the link it shows each cong./assembly hall on the list. You can select one of them and it shows their income, taxes ect. Under classification they are listed as Protestants, that must be how the goverment views them. Or maybe I read it wrong. I'll try to copy and paste it.

I seem to remember, my mom ordering me a leather bible for my baptism. I got baptized in July and my bible didn't come in until Dec. 25th. My mom thought that was funny, it looked like she got it for Christmas. Either way the gift sucked. But 6 month wait back then even.

so i have some interesting news about the special assembly day.
normally at the assembly, my parents pay close attention and take turns taking notes.
then after the program, they enjoy socializing for some time.
Wow, good for your folks. Your mom sounds like she's questioning things, big time.
